A preschool/kindergarden update...
We are now over a month into the school year and I think we are settling into our routine pretty well. Even in a month's time I have seen great improvement in following routines, fine motor skills, reading (Yeah, Geo!), cooperation and communication, etc.
Here is a recent picture taken with my students:
Here are my kids showing me the proper way to sit on the rug for our morning group time. Legs crossed, hands folded in their laps, smiles... (of course, if a 4 or 5 yr. old could only stay seated this way for more than a few seconds...!)
One of our areas includes a play kitchen and that combined with the baby dolls and props provides the perfect set up for playing "house".
Candi, Julián, and Ángel playing with all the fun play food in the kitchen area (thanks, Denise!)
While playing house, the kids have latched on to a rather comical role play. For whatever reason over the last month, I think I can safely say that every day I hear, "I get to be Bere!" (from any one of the three kids). If there is not a "discussion" as to who really gets to be "Bere" (Candi had issues at first with the boys wanting to play a female role), the next up is, "I am Juantan!" If all three kids are playing the last is the hijo (son), Ramsés. :) I really don't know where or why it all started, or why Juantan and Bere are the lucky, desired roles (though we all know how great they are! and praise God for godly examples for the kids to imitate!), but whatever it is seems to have stuck...for over a month! :)

Playing memory
The phone was a big hit, especially at the beginning and this little guy was often found chatting with a "friend".
Looks kind of comfy, doesn't he? (Julián)
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
Thank you for your continued prayers for us here at CVE. We praise God as He continues to work in ways that are beyond us and continues to remind us of His faithfulness in all things. Please pray that God will continue to reveal to us the needs our children have and that He would then give us wisdom, knowledge, discernment, and understanding into how to best meet these needs. Please also pray for new (returning) staff, Joe and Denise. Praise God for directing them back to ministry here! They have jumped in with both feet and just today received our three newest additions to the CVE family (a young sibling group of 3)! Pray that God will give them the wisdom and strength they need for what lies before them.
