Tecate Jóvenes

Remember our trip to Tecate? (If you don't remember reading about the zopilote, you can click HERE or to read about the rest of the trip click HERE or HERE.) Well, even before we went to visit they had contacted us about bringing a group of jóvenes (young people) to visit Magdalena. A few weekends ago they finally were able to come. 

It was a rather quick weekend with them arriving on Friday afternoon and leaving after church on Sunday and I honestly didn't take too many pictures. I was part of the planning committee which was mainly a kitchen committee or food committee, so I spent most of the time in the kitchen and not near as much time as I would have liked enjoying the fellowship. However, there were a few times, like below, that we got to do food prep. and fellowship at the same time! :)

Here in Magdalena the guys do a great job jumping in and washing dishes. We decided to give the Tecate young men the opportunity to "when in Rome, do as the Romans" (or however that phrase goes..)... :)

Friday night, we took the group into town to visit Productos Cárnicos and Café Sed. They took a tour of the meat processing set up while the rest of us hung out at the café. Misi was here visiting us (if you remember we met him in Tecate) as well during the weekend. He came a few days earlier than the Tecate group, worked hard on various construction projects, and then went back to Tecate with the group on Sunday. I think he plans to head down to Ixtlán from there and then back to Hungary.

I think their typical group of jóvenes is 13 yrs. and up, but the group that came had some more diverse ages and included two couples, one with two small children. 

Here some of the girls were enjoying Monopoly on Saturday afternoon.

We were planning to have ice cream sundaes on Saturday night after the singing and we had a variety of toppings for the ice cream. Nicole wanted cut-up bananas but what we had weren't ripe enough for her taste....so she put them out to "sun-bathe". :)

You all know that soccer is big in México. Well, they decided to have a Tecate vs. Magdalena soccer game Saturday afternoon. I must say that even though our kids live and play with a bunch of Americans...they still won. :)

Saturday night we had a singing outside on the basketball court.

About halfway though the singing, Alex, who had come with his wife and two children, shared his testimony. Praise God for the miracle of salvation and a changed life!

 You might remember this little girl from this post about our Tecate trip. Alondra (2) reminded me of my niece, Addie. She is Alex's little daughter and let me take her picture...

Then she learned the joy of digital cameras--that she could see herself in the picture just taken! So she wanted another picture...

After the singing and some volleyball, the jóvenes enjoyed the sundae bar:

Sunday morning, most of the group went on the bus route and then during morning service, Javier, one of the young brothers shared his testimony with the adults and oldest Sunday school class. During the second service, Jesús, who came with his wife to accompany the jóvenes and is a minister in the Tecate church, preached on Luke 15. It was a great blessing for our Magdalena church!

After church the Tecate group got packed up and we took some quick pictures before they loaded up the vans.

Praise God for the opportunity for our young people and Magdalena church to get to know other Mexican Christians and young people. Please pray for the Tecate church, that God would continue to work among them and through them to bring souls to salvation. Praise God for His continued work in this country, bringing truth to a land long-devastated and long-deceived. Pray that God would continue to raise up and strengthen true Christian churches throughout México that more might come to the knowledge of the truth and be freed from the slavery of sin. Please pray that God would raise up solid Mexican men and families for our Magdalena church, establishing a Body of believers growing and maturing in faith and the truth of His Word.
